Hi! Welcome to my blog! I am currently an interior design student at Washington State University. I knew by my sophomore year of high school that I wanted to be an interior designer. But my passion for art and design has been a lifelong journey. When I was younger I would get as many how to draw art books as I could and I would spend hours drawing what I saw. I knew at a young age I wanted to be in an art related field but I wasn't sure which one until I stumbled upon the HGTV network. It clicked instantly that interior design is where I wanted to be. Since then I have had the opportunity to design and carryout many of the rooms in my parents' house. I also had the opportunity to design a piece of furniture that was based on Frank Lloyd Wright and inspired from a tree branch, as part of my senior project from high school.
I have found that many things inspire me. I could be looking through a magazine or taking a walk and something will inspire me. It could be as simple as an old glass bottle that could be used as a small chandelier or paper that could be used as the outside of a light fixture. Above all, I am inspired by two great loves; my love of the ocean and my passion for all things Asian. My love of the ocean has stemmed from the serenity and happiness I feel when I am there. I also find the textures and shapes of the beach and ocean to be fascinating. Everything from the course texture of the sand to the smooth sensation of the water, there is an endless amount of possibilities. I find Asian design especially fascinating because it is so simple and functional yet elegant and sophisticated. I love the clean lines and colors that are a part of this design. These are qualities I hope to incorporate into my future designs.
My goals for my future would be to graduate from WSU with a bachelors and masters degree. I then hope to join a firm where I can use the skills I have gained at WSU to solve real-life problems and improve the lives of those around me. Above all, I hope to make a difference one design at a time!
